Peisithanatos - DSBM italo-mexican duet answer Noire's questions

NOIRE : Hi Peisithanatos, can you introduce yourself to our readers ?
PEISITHANATOS : Peisithanatos is a studio project that was born in the summer of 2025 by Fernando (“Delirios”, a name derived from his one-man DSBM band Delirios Del Demente
Inconforme) from Mexico and V from Italy, both lovers of Black Metal and DSBM. V takes
care of the vocals and lyrics, while Fernando handles the instrumental parts, mixing and
mastering.
The project proposes classic Depressive Suicidal Black Metal (FFO: Nocturnal
Depression, Nyktalgia, Shining, Forgotten Tomb, Beyond Melancholy, Make A Change... Kill
Yourself, Lifelover, etc.) with various influences, especially from Raw Black Metal, Post-Black Metal and Atmospheric Black Metal. In January 2026, the band released its first EP online, entitled “Cityscape Depression”.
The band currently collaborates with various labels: theHungarian label Funeral Bells Records (run by the person behind the well-known BM project Gormoth), which released the EP digitally on Bandcamp; Black Death Records, a Japanese label that released a limited CD edition; and recently the band also started collaborating with the brand-new Swedish label Prison Of Flesh Productions.
NOIRE : Why did you choose the name Peisithanatos? What does it mean?
PEISITHANATOS : “Peisithanatos”, from ancient Greek, literally means “persuader of death” or “one who persuades to death”. Obviously, it is a quote and tribute to the album Peisithanatos (2008) by Nyktalgia. We think this name is very evocative, and that behind this word there are many possible interpretations, nuances, existential reflections and philosophical concepts to dwell on.
NOIRE : So, this is a DSBM project. How does this music genre resonate with you ?
PEISITHANATOS : Every day, sadness knocks on the doors of our existence, and daily we dwell on our often negative thoughts and themes such as existential anguish and contempt for what surrounds us. We try to fight these feelings by composing music.
NOIRE : Your new EP "Cityscape Depression" was released in January. What did you want to
express with this record?
PEISITHANATOS : “Cityscape Depression” (whose title is a small tribute to Springtime Depression by Forgotten Tomb) is a testament to the existential coldness flowing through our veins and to the heartbreaking sense of frustration and anguish we experience every day. The seven tracks deal with depression, anguish and suicide, especially within the context of the city as an oppressive and suffocating reality.
NOIRE : How did you compose the EP?
PEISITHANATOS : The writing process was very interesting: we decided on the concept of urban depression to give a touch of originality to our project, and it all started from the very raw photos taken by V while wandering around his hometown.
Photos of gloomy buildings, imposing churches with their tyrannical crucifixes, dark and suffocating alleys (both modern and ancient), ruined buildings, sad street lamps, sunny yet depressing benches, pristine nature ruined by mankind and urban concrete, cemeteries silent and noisy at the same time, urban decay and inner melancholy were our main sources of inspiration for the concept, lyrics and atmosphere of the EP.
Thanks to these photos, we outlined concepts, titles and lyrics, while Fernando simultaneously composed the instrumental parts. It is all about creating a
distressing atmosphere.
NOIRE : What are your influences for "Cityscape Depression"?
PEISITHANATOS: There are many influences: we love Black Metal in all its nuances. We created a classic DSBM project with influences from traditional Black Metal, Post-Black Metal and Atmospheric Black Metal, alongside some more melody-oriented passages. The list could go on forever, but we can stop with just a few names: Forgotten Tomb, Shining, Silencer, Nocturnal Depression, Abyssic Hate, Life Is Pain, I’m In A Coffin, Through The Pain, Lifelover, My Useless Life, Oppressive Light, Gormoth, Forevercold, Sorry... etc.
NOIRE : The cover art is really intriguing. Can you tell us more about it?
PEISITHANATOS: As previously mentioned, our concept draws a lot of inspiration from V’s photographs. Thecover photo for “Cityscape Depression” was taken in the cemetery of the town where V lives, in Southern Italy: a single rusty bench with a sea of graves behind it. For us, it is a cold and glacial image, synonymous with loneliness, sadness and depression. We thought this photo, as well as the others included in the artwork, perfectly represented the themes explored throughout the EP.
