Heretic Cult Redeemer - The Greek black metal band explains their new album "In Oculum Chaos"

NOIRE: Hi, Heretic Cult Redeemer, thanks for answering my questions today. Can you introduce yourself?
HERETIC CULT REDEEMER: Greetings. We are Heretic Cult Redeemer. We compose and perform as a band, in order to express our higher selves. We are involved in the black metal scene, however we strive to incorporate and express every inspiration and tendency that needs to be put forward, without taboos or prejudice. Of course, our basis is and always will be that of black metal because this is our ideological starting point.
NOIRE: How did you meet and start the band?
HERETIC CULT REDEEMER: The band was formed in 2009, by Funus who was and remains the main force behind the effort. Later, the band was joined by Tempest and D. The main goal was to express our inner pursuit, in a musical and spiritual level. The band’s lineup has
changed over time with the current members being Funus, Tempest, C. Docre, S.V. 616
and Nick Trialonis.
NOIRE: Your music is balanced between black and death. What are your influences in each genre, and why did you want to make blackened death music?
HERETIC CULT REDEEMER: We do not create neither compose music, according to specific norms. Our process of creating music is that of a systematic “apogymnosis” (devestment), with the goal being the expression of the inner folds of ourselves, in the purest form, away from the influence of modernity and the material world. As far as influences go, we too of course have taken in those genres of music, as well as others.
The core aspect of our influences is that they tend to disrupt the pillars of the cosmic and internal balance, with the target being the dissolution of the illusion and the realization of true reality. To answer to your question more specifically, some of the bands that attain those
characteristics are: The True Mayhem, Dissection, Bathory, Morbid Angel, and the list
goes on…
NOIRE: Why are you called Heretic Cult Redeemer? And what are the themes explored in your albums?
HERETIC CULT REDEEMER: Our name represents a tendency to express and “preach” as a prophet of an upcoming Aeon of disillusionment and the breaking of an old circle that will be replaced by a new epoch to come. The main themes of our music are the experiences and
workings of our inner pursuits, via the use of qliphotic, satanic and ecstatic paths and
systems. We see ourselves as the means of expression for the forces of the other side.
NOIRE: I must admit it’s the first time I’m interviewing a Greek band. How is the black metal scene in Greece?
HERETIC CULT REDEEMER: Personally, I think that the black metal scene in Greece is one of the most productive and influential. I know many individuals who remain true to their beliefs and the occult, true pioneers of the genre. As you can understand people like these could
never create mediocre music and material. I refer to bands like Acrimonious, Thy
Darkened Shade, Serpent Noir, etc.
NOIRE: You just signed on with Serpent Sun Records to share your fourth record "In Oculum Chaos". How is the creative process so far? When will this record be available?
HERETIC CULT REDEEMER: Serpent Sun Records is a growing label with much potential and dedicated to the genre. Our fourth album, “In Oculum Chaos” is based on the ecstatic abstraction, with the aim to impress the pure synthesis of the creation process. We would like it to be an“intoxicating” journey that will bring turmoil in the perceived, self-harmony of the listener.
“In Oculum Chaos” attempts to communicate the fundamental truths, by disrupting the subconscious of the recipient. Since creating a full album is not a linear procedure for
us, we estimate that the album will be ready somewhere in the upcoming summer
months.
